Message Story on Companion Device

In the multi-device beta feature, after you connect the companion device, the phone or cellphone will send a copy of the Story of the latest message to the device you just connected. No need to worry about security, because messages are end-to-end encrypted. The message story will then be placed on the companion device.

For the record, after joining Beta multi-device, you will need to re-link the phone to the companion device. Even though you can connect all four devices at once, you can only connect one phone to your WhatsApp account at a time.

On its official website, WhatsApp says that if the phone is not used for more than 14 days, the linked device will be disconnected. Also, the multi-device beta feature doesn't work on the old version of WhatsApp.

The multi-device beta is now available for users of the regular WhatsApp program and the latest version of WhatsApp, both on Android or iPhone. However, this feature does not provide support for deleting chats if your particular device is an iPhone.

Sending messages or calls to other users is not successful if the recipient is still using the old version of WhatsApp on their cellphone. This feature does not work on tablets.
