1. Personal Computer (PC)

A PC or personal computer indicates that the computer is designed for use by one person. Even though a Mac is actually a PC, most people misunderstand and feel that a PC is a system that runs the Windows operating system. PCs were first known as microcomputers because these computers were built on a smaller scale than the large systems used by most businesses.

2. Desktop

A PC that cannot be carried anywhere is called a desktop. Desktops for permanent use, Most desktops offer more power, storage, and flexibility at a fraction of the cost of portable computers.

3. Laptops

Laptops are also often referred to as notebooks. A laptop is a portable computer that integrates a display, keyboard, pointing device or trackball, processor, memory, and hard drive in one battery-operated package.

4. Netbooks

Netbooks are ultra-portable computers that are smaller than traditional laptops. The price is cheaper than most laptops. However, the internal netbook components are less powerful when compared to laptops.


5. PDA


A PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) is an integrated computer that uses flash memory more often than a hard drive for data storage. These computers usually do not have a keyboard but rely on touch screen technology to enter users. PDA PDAs are usually smaller than a novel standard, very light, with reasonable battery life.

6. Work station

Another type of computer is a workstation, which is a desktop that has a more powerful processor, additional memory, and increased ability to perform several groups of tasks, such as 3D Graphics or game development.

7. Servers

A server is a computer that has been optimized to provide services to other computers over a network. Servers usually have powerful processors, lots of memory, and large hard drives.


8. Mainframes

In the early days of computers, mainframes were very large computers that could fill an entire room. As computers have decreased in size while their power has been increased, the mainframe is now used as a term, especially in large corporations, to describe the large machines that process transactions every day.


9. Supercomputer

These types of computers usually cost hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. Although some supercomputers are a single computer system, most consist of multiple performance computers working in parallel as a single system. The most famous supercomputers are those built by Cray Supercomputers.
