Why did the Sextantid meteor shower occur?

These meteors are fragments of the asteroid Apollo 2005 UD. Meteor shower events occur when the Earth passes through an area covered by asteroid fragments. Earth's gravitational force pulls the fragments into the Earth's area.

Furthermore, the fragments will experience friction with the Earth's atmosphere which makes it burn. Meteor fragments generally burn in the atmosphere at an altitude of 70 to 100 km. A large number of asteroid debris in the area makes this Sextantid meteor shower an annual event.
