Netgenz - Health | Studies show consumption of dairy fat can help reduce the natural risk of heart disease. Milk fat is the fat content in dairy products such as milk, yogurt, cheese, and others. The current study, published in the journal PLOS Medicine, shows that people who consume a lot of dairy fat have a lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease than people who consume low dairy fat.

The results of this study were obtained after researchers analyzed 4,150 people aged 60 years in Sweden. Sweden is the country with the highest level of milk production and consumption in the world. Several researchers analyzed the health of investigators over 16 years. Researchers looked at how many people experienced cardiovascular diseases such as heart disease, stroke, and other circulatory problems. Researchers adjusted for other risk factors such as age, income, lifestyle, and diet.

Researchers compared their findings with 17 other studies with a total of 43,000 investigators from the US, Denmark, and the UK. As a result, the researchers found that people who consumed high dairy fat had the lowest risk of developing cardiovascular disease. They also did not experience an increased risk of death from various triggers.

"Our research did not show any harm from milk fat. We found those with the highest milk fat had the lowest risk of cardiovascular disease," said Matti Marklund, senior researcher at the George Institute for Global Health, Sydney. Although good for heart health, researchers say they still need further research to understand the health benefits in detail from milk fat and dairy foods. Consumption of milk fat needs to be accompanied by the consumption of other balanced nutrients and a lifestyle to obtain maximum health benefits.
